Working in an intercultural context is a challenge and a special opportunity. A condition for a successful cooperation is that we become aware of our own cultural background as well as of the cultural background of our partners or our host country. Film and media teams are challenged especially: In complex projects with a diverse range of participants and acting under great pressure, often the time to deal with intercultural issues is missing. We want to change that with a new workshop:

Intercultural Workshop & Lab for Filmmakers and Media Start-ups: Working and studying globally, thinking and acting locally. An intercultural training for all who want to work or already are working or studying internationally. Learn about your host culture’s ”software” in comparison with your own and those of your team-members.

A training for anyone dealing with different cultures, specifically: international students (both degree-seeking and exchange students), members of international (film)teams, small business owners with international clients or partners, and aspiring film producers who reflect on intercultural subjects.

With Gerda Ruiter, Culture Shock Coaching, in cooperation with Gründungsservice, International office and the Officer for International Affairs.

The workshop initially covers the fundamentals in the field of intercultural skills which will be applied in a practical part. We will practice with intercultural encounters in controlled circumstances, the so called “intercultural laboratory”. The training will be held in English. Questions can be raised in German and English.

The workshop will take place in Film University, room 5104.
