Thank you for your interest in studying at Germany's first film university. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible basis for a future successful career in filmmaking.
Here you will learn how to apply to the Film University in 4 steps:
1 - Gathering Information
At the Film University, you can choose from 22 degree programs. Applications are accepted once a year for the winter semester.
As there are different admission and application requirements for the individual programs, please acquaint yourself with the requirements and selection criteria for your program of choice before applying to the Film University. Please also note that there are different application periods for different programs.
2 - Preparing Your Application
Preparing a complete and compelling application may require a considerable amount of time. That's why we urgently recommend that you find out which documents, certificates, work samples, admission test results, etc. you need in order to apply and start preparing your application well ahead of the application period. All relevant information can be found on the website of the program you would like to apply for.
In particular, applicants holding foreign educational qualifications are advised to take extra time for preparing their application portfolio.
3 - Applying Online
All applicants to B.A. and M.A. programs must apply online via the Film University's application portal.
Please note that an administration fee will be charged for each application.
4 - Submitting Application Documents
Please indicate your name and applicant number (from the online application portal) on all application documents. Send your documents, the signed application form (from the online application portal), and your work samples to the following address within the stipulated deadline:

Please note that the application deadline is a receipt deadline, not a postmark deadline.
Applicants who wish to personally submit their application documents can do so Monday through Friday at the university reception office / mail room.
Postal items requiring the payment of C.O.D. or customs charges upon receipt will not be accepted.
Applications that are incomplete and / or submitted after the specified deadline and / or for which the application fee has not been paid will not be processed.
We will confirm the receipt of your application in writing or via the online application portal. Please do not call us to inquire about your application status.
