PhD Programs

At the Film University, students can obtain a traditional scientific PhD degree in the discipline of Media Studies. In 2016, the university also introduced artistic / scientific PhD programs in the disciplines of Dramaturgy / Screenwriting, Film Heritage, and Production. In both program types, students enroll as PhD candidates and pursue individual doctorates. Structured PhD programs or traditional graduate schools have not been established at the Film University. However, numerous offers provided on a voluntary basis ensure that support, networking opportunities, and further education are available to PhD students.
