Workshop: Pitching for Funding

In this two-part workshop, participants will learn how to effectively present and pitch their projects to potential funders.

The first part (1 hour) will be led by NOISE Scholar and award-winning filmmaker Dr. Rand Beiruty. She has pitched her projects on international platforms and received awards from, among others, the Tribeca Film Institute, Mifa Animation du Monde, the Arab Cinema Center, and the European Network of Young Cinema.

Dr. Rand Beiruty will share:

  • her personal experiences with the topic of pitching,
  • how she learned and developed her pitching skills,
  • which recommendations and insights she can offer from her own experience,
  • and what the differences are between pitching for film funding and pitching for business funding.

The second part (14:00 – 17:00) will be conducted by Kristine Keil, a startup-expert at Gründungsservice in the field of: Pitch – Presenting Business Models

This interactive session focuses on developing each participant’s personal pitch presentation.
Kristine Keil will work with participants on:

  • body warm-ups and exercises to prepare for presentations,
  • the intentional use of expressive filters,
  • identifying the most important information about themselves and their projects,
  • crafting a compelling presentation that leaves a strong and lasting impression,
  • and applying practical tools and individualized exercises to strengthen their presentation skills.

The session will conclude with a group phase for constructive feedback and peer exchange.

About the NOISE* EXIST Women program:

The community and scholarship program runs from January to December 2025 and we will announce further community event dates (every two weeks). The event will also provide information about the individual financial support opportunities offered by the NOISE* scholarship. You can find out more about this and the call for applications on our website in advance. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to: noise-exist(at)filmuniversitaet.de.

NOISE* EXIST-Women is an Initiative by Filmuniversitaet Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, financed by Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz(BMWK).

This new funding program aims to support women / FLINTA in the development of creative business ideas. The program offers support in the form of grants, financial support for material resources, mentoring and coaching as well as access to co-working spaces. As part of this, the start-up service will host a series of community events on campus for women* / FLINTA founders to share ideas and work together on solutions. This community is open to all women* / FLINTA students, staff, alumnae and partners of the Film University.
FLINTA* is a German abbreviation that stands for "Frauen, Lesben, Intergeschlechtliche, nichtbinäre, trans und agender Personen", meaning women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people.

The deadline for NOISE* scholarship application was 20th of February 2025.
