Armin Pommeranz was born in Reinbek, close to Hamburg. From 1997 to 2002, he studied Music Theory and Composition at Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin. In 2001, he received a DAAD scholarship to study Musicology at the University of Southampton. After his graduation, he worked as a freelance composer of theater, film, and chamber music and as a visiting lecturer of composition, 20th century composition, aural theory, and organology at Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler". For the summer semester of 2008, Pommeranz was appointed professor of Music Theory and Composition at HFF Konrad Wolf, today's Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF.
