Funding for University Staff

Erasmus+ teaching mobility (STA)

The Erasmus+ STA funding line is available to all teaching staff at Film University Babelsberg who would like to spend a teaching period at one of Film University's Erasmus+ partner universities. Below you will find all important information on funding and application.

If you have any further questions, please contact Dr. Anne-Maria Stresing: a.stresing(at)filmuniversitaet.de

Who can be funded?

  • Professors and lecturers with a contractual relationship to Film University
  • Research associates
  • Doctoral students who are active in teaching
  • Staff from foreign companies and organizations (can be invited to German universities for teaching purposes)

What are the advantages of teaching mobility?

Exchange and networking with European colleagues.

  • Intensification of the relationship with a partner university
  • Development of joint curricula and modules
  • Experience with other higher education systems
  • Teaching experience in a foreign language

What requirements must be met?

  • The country in which the teaching mobility takes place must not be the main country of residence of the person concerned.
  • All Erasmus+ partner universities of Film University that have concluded an Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) in the respective subject are eligible as target universities. You can find an overview of our current partnerships here.
  • The IIA is a prerequisite for funding. If the university you have selected does not yet have an IIA, the International Office will support you in concluding such an agreement - provided the partner university agrees. Priority is given to agreements with universities with which a long-term and expandable partnership is sought.

How long is the funding period?

  • Film University supports teaching stays of at least two and a maximum of five days (excluding travel days).
  • The duration of the stay may exceed the funding period.
  • The required teaching workload per stay is eight hours for the first week of the stay or for a shorter stay.
  • If teaching activities are combined with further education and training, the teaching workload is reduced to 4 hours per week.

How much is the grant?

  • The Erasmus+ mobility grant includes travel and accommodation costs which are paid out as lump sums.
  • The amount of the accommodation costs is based on the different costs of living in the target countries. Uniform daily rates apply for funding from German universities which may vary for the different Erasmus+ project years. You can find an overview here.
  • The amount of travel costs is calculated using the Distance Calculator. The place of departure is always Film University.
  • The binding funding lump sums are agreed in writing in the so-called Grant Agreement.

What documents are required?

  • Business trip application
  • Invitation letter from the partner university
  • Grant Agreement - is issued by the International Office of Film University.
  • Mobility Agreement - to be completed in consultation with the partner university.
