Housing in Potsdam

Studentenwerk Potsdam offers accommodations in 36 dormitories with a total capacity of 3,047 rooms to students enrolled at a university in the Studentenwerk's area of responsibility. Students whose home residence is located outside the public transport network serving the university are eligible for housing. Typically, student housing is limited to a maximum of eight semesters. For further information, please consult the "Guidelines for Eligibility for Housing in the Dormitories of Studentenwerk Potsdam" ("Richtlinien für die Vergabe von Wohnraum an Studierende in Studentenwohnheimen des Studentenwerks Potsdam", issued on January 1, 2002).

For students with children, affordable housing is available in Potsdam-Eiche, Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße 135, and Breite Straße. For students with physical disabilities, special rooms are available in Stahnsdorfer Straße and Forststraße.

We recommend that you apply for a dormitory room as early as possible, i.e. regardless of whether you have already been accepted to your degree program or not. The online application form as well as all relevant information are available at www.studentenwerk-potsdam.de. Lease contracts are concluded following successful enrollment. Should you accept a lease offer, you will be charged a reservation fee of EUR 250. After the signing of the lease contract, this amount will be turned into a security deposit. Rooms are available for rents between EUR 140 and EUR 320.
