Short Biography

Timo Gößler worked as an assistant director on various film, television and theater productions before studying screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Konrad Wolf Film University. Film adaptations of the screenplays he wrote were screened at several film festivals including Max Ophüls Prize in Saarbrücken and Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale; he received the Sat 1 Talent Class Award for his short film screenplay “Blue Hotel.”

As a dramaturg, he worked on numerous feature films and documentaries (e.g., “Football Under Cover” (Prix Europa)). Timo Gößler was part of the development team for the crime series “Unschuldig” (Pro7/Teamworx) and wrote several episodes in Germany’s first primetime writers’ room modeled consistently after the U.S. system. As a dramaturgical consultant he worked on numerous series such as “Alarm für Cobra 11” (RTL/action concept), “Löwenzahn” (ZDF/Studio.TV. Film), “Band Camp Berlin” (rbb/DOKfilm), “Beutolomäus und der wahre Weihnachtsmann” (KiKA/Wunderwerk), “Bernd, das Brot” (KiKA), and “Disco 76” (RTL+/UFA). Since 2022, he works as a development producer at UFA Fiction and has been involved in the development of many formats such as “All You Need” (ARD) and “Charité” (ARD).

Together with Katrin Merkel he wrote the industry manual “The German Room – The US Writers’ Room in German Series Development,” which was published in the fall of 2021 by Masterschool Drehbuch Edition.
From 2009 to 2022, Timo Gößler was an academic assistant at the Film University Babelsberg and a lecturer in Practical Dramaturgy, Genre Writing, and Serial Writing. For years he has led workshops and training programs for the national and international industry (e.g., “Writing in the Writers’ Room,” EPI, Writers’ Room:Lab, Bavarian Film Center, “Beyond Stereotypes - Diversity-Conscious Storytelling,” EPI). Together with his colleagues at the Erich Pommer Institute in Potsdam, he was responsible for developing the master’s specialization and industry training “Winterclass Serial Writing and Producing,” which he led on behalf of the Film University from 2015 to 2024 (Head of Studies). After serving as a substitute professor from 2022 to March 2026, he has been Professor of Screenwriting and Dramaturgy and Dean of Studies since April 2026.
