Future Skills
The film and creative industries are evolving at a rapid pace – and the expectations placed on filmmakers are growing accordingly. At the same time, many students face challenges that have nothing to do with talent: limited access to networks, financial pressure, bureaucratic barriers, and the feeling of not truly belonging.
The Future Skills Lab addresses exactly these issues. We support you – from your application and throughout your studies to your transition into professional life. With practical skills that the industry genuinely needs. And with guidance from people who have walked similar paths.
What are Future Skills?
Future Skills are the competencies that are essential in an increasingly digital, diverse, and fast-changing working world – particularly within the film and creative industries.
At the Future Skills Lab, we work with the Media Future Readiness competency model, which brings together 20 key competencies across four core areas:
- Creative and entrepreneurial thinking – for example, idea development, resource management, and risk competence
- Media-specific future competencies – for example, innovation design, transformation expertise, and platform literacy
- Sustainability competence – for example, environmentally conscious production, social sustainability, and SDG impact design
- Digital innovation competence – for example, AI and automation, data literacy, and digital ethics
