While Hollywood is filming a series about the Second World War in the small village of Wiesenwalde, the villagers are chasing their personal dreams - until a sudden power outage risks ruining all their plans and a tank appears in front of the mayor‘s house.
Jannis Alexander Kiefer was raised in a rural village in South Germany on his family‘s farm and, after various internships, studied „Audiovisual Media“ in Berlin and „Directing“ at the Film University Babelsberg. His short films premiered at prestigious Festivals like Warsaw Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, Moscow Film Festival and Palm Springs among others. During the first Corona lockdown, Jannis Alexander Kiefer wrote and directed the „home office short film“ MEETING, which won the German Short Film Price „Lola“ and was broadcast several times on German television. In 2022, he wrote and shot his feature film debut ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY. Like many of his earlier works, the tragicomedy deals with the precarious milieu in the village microcosm, celebrated its world premiere at the Shanghai Film Festival in 2024 and at the same time at the Munich Film Festival and was honoured with the First Steps Award.
