Gilles Deleuze is one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century and is characterized by a way of thinking that seeks a renewal of philosophy through dialogue with science and art. Film is of particular importance in Deleuze's philosophy of art. In his books on cinema, he refers to the interference of various creative practices, including philosophy which invents and creates concepts. Thereby Deleuze defines film explicitly as a "new practice of images and signs" and projects a zone where film can become a new means of philosophical expression.

Conversely, Deleuze's thinking, its methods and worldwide reception have gained international importance for artistic researchers: artistic research intertwines discursive and non-discursive processes and outputs. The symposium aims to use Deleuze's thinking of interference as a starting point for reflection on artistic research in film and phhilosophy. We want to focus in particular on the role of philosophical thinking as a creative practice and method of artistic research, as well as on film as a form of doing philosophy.
