Dr. Steffen Hven

Steffen Hven studied dramaturgy, cultural studies, and film studies at Aarhus University (Denmark) and Boğaziçi University Istanbul (Turkey) and received his doctorate from Bauhaus University Weimar in 2015. He then worked as an Associate International Postdoctoral Researcher at the Competence Center for Media Anthropology at the Bauhaus University Weimar until 2019. As a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow, he conducted research at the University of Chicago. In 2021, he joined the German Research Foundation-funded research group “Cinepoetics” – an institution of the Free University of Berlin in cooperation with the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. He also taught in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at the Free University of Berlin. In 2023, he moved to the Film University Babelsberg as a visiting professor and junior research group leader with the ERC project “Cinematic Atmospheres: Towards a New Ecology of the Image - CATNEMI.”
