This doctoral project will systematise artistic methods that anchor character-centred sound dramaturgy in the script development process and extend it transdisciplinarily. A specific film corpus will be examined in order to systematise possible sound dramaturgical means in the writing process. Of particular interest are those sound design elements that need to be anchored early in the development of the story, such as audiovisual analogies or character environment. Artistic methods are developed in the context of didactic research in higher education.
The artistic part consists of the co-creative work as sound supervisor in the development and realisation of the film The Shame of the Borbély Family (110', Dor Film, D: Kálmán Nagy, 2025). The transdisciplinary interweaving with its focus on sound dramaturgy in the script development extends throughout the entire production process in this project. Transferring methods and sound dramaturgical means from scientific reflection to artistic work makes it possible to expand their innovative power and transdisciplinary potential and evaluate them with regard to the finished film.
The study thus attempts to propose a writer's toolbox for sound dramaturgy in collaborative artistic processes. This can be applied in interdisciplinary university teaching as well as in artistic practice.
