We are thrilled to announce the first Clean Film IT Lab, which aims to explore ecological sustainability in film production. The event, led by Prof. Lena Gieseke, is a collaborative effort between the Filmuniversität, the Hasso Plattner Institut, and the MediaTech Hub Conference.
The focus of the Clean Film IT Lab is the ecological sustainability of IT & Cloud infrastructures used in film production, with an emphasis on post-production, VFX, and Virtual Production. This lab aims to not only equip participants with knowledge about the sustainability of their current infrastructure and potential improvements, but also foster an exchange with other industry partners. Moreover, the outcomes of this lab will be channeled into ongoing research & transfer projects at HPI and Filmuniversität.
Agenda
The lab is split into three parts:
Part 1 – Status Quo
- Objective: Understanding the ecological footprint regarding utilized IT & Cloud components.
- Format: Presentation & Discussion
Part 2 – Trends & Outlook
- Objective: Gaining insights into relevant developments for the next 5–10 years.
- Format: Keynote presentation with Q&A
Part 3 – The Next Steps
- Objective: Identifying questions for research & transfer.
- Format: Group work
We will close with a roundtable discussion and a get-together with drinks.
Outlook
We need to further push meaningful changes in the film industry and to implement long-lasting sustainable practices. The Clean Film IT Lab is not designed as a one-time event but as a next step for all partners on a long journey towards a desirable future. While participation is by invitation only, the findings from this event will hopefully ripple through the industry and research institutions, sparking new developments for sustainability in film production.
Stay tuned for more updates and insights from the Clean Film IT Lab!
