Dr. Pablo Salas Tonello

Pablo Salas Tonello studied Literature at the National University of Tucuman, Argentina. He holds a Master's degree in Cultural Sociology and a Doctorate in Sociology from the National University of San Martin, where he engaged in a long-term research on the social and professional dynamics of performing arts in Argentina. In 2022, he undertook a doctoral research stay at the Centre for Latin American Studies at the University of Kassel. Pablo is currently a Walter Benjamin Fellow at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF with a project entitled 'Film Festivals in Argentina: An Approach to Centre-Periphery Dynamics in South American Film Cultures.' Pablo has published articles on artistic professions, working conditions in creative fields and institutional evaluation in theatre festivals. His current research interests focus on film festivals and their role in fostering professional careers and regional leadership in peripheral cities.
Furthermore, Pablo participates as a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal Papeles de Trabajo and in the Academic Committee of the Masters in Cultural Sociology at the National University of San Martin.
