CALL FOR PROJECT IDEAS - IDEAS JAM 2023

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 10th November 2023

MOVE! Ideas Festivalis the annual highlight of the MOVE2Startup program at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. This year's festival, running from November 30th to December 2nd, 2023, will span three days and will serve as a gathering point for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including creative fields, IT, engineering, and business sciences. Attendees share a common interest in entrepreneurship, nurturing their entrepreneurial visions, and generating innovative ideas that will shape the future of the film, media, and creative industries.

The festival's itinerary kicks off with a dynamic first day featuring presentations, talks, demos, and panels focused on ‘AI in Film, Media and Creative Processes’. On Friday, December 1st, and Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, participants will transition into teams to take on an exciting project challenge, or Ideas Jam 2023, with the support of coaches. We are currently seeking project ideas for Ideas Jam 2023.

Ideas Jam 2023 is an invaluable opportunity for those seeking to gain hands-on experience working in a cross-disciplinary team and pitching to an audience. Given that the first day conference focuses on AI and its application, we encourage the submission of project ideas that explore how AI can enhance business concepts from a creative standpoint, but it is not a requirement. Projects can span various fields, including but not limited to Creative & Green Production, Storytelling, Creative Technology, Sound & Music Tech, Augmented Reality, VFX, and Animation.

If you submit a project idea for Ideas Jam 2023, we will reach out to you to discuss becoming a project owner. You may submit with up to 3 existing team members. Project owners must commit to attending all three days of the MOVE! Ideas Festival, including the 2-day Ideas Jam, and allow other students to join and collaborate on their project idea as a team member.

STEP 1: DEVELOP YOUR PROJECT IDEA

Your project challenges should be formulated as a so-called "HMW" or "How-might-we?" question. “HMW” questions are those that fall out of your point-of-view statement or design principles, and are meant to launch brainstorms. Here you can find some guidance on how to apply the "HMW” method.

You will receive an email from us to schedule a 30-minute online appointment within 2 weeks after you submit. On this call, we will review your project idea and explore how to best support your project needs during the project challenge.

FAQ FOR PROJECT OWNERS

WHAT REQUIREMENTS DOES MY PROJECT IDEA HAVE TO MEET?

Your project idea should be artistically, socially or entrepreneurially interesting and be able to be told in three minutes (e.g. according to the principle of problem-solution-added value). Please follow the instructions above to submit your project idea. DOES MY PROJECT IDEA HAVE TO INVOLVE THE USE OF AI?

Given the first day of the conference will tackle interesting topics around AI, MOVE! Ideas Festival project challenge is a great opportunity for those who want to explore how AI could benefit their business idea from a creative perspective. We encourage creators using AI or who want to use AI to submit their project idea, but it is not a requirement.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON MY PROJECT?

Teams consist of a maximum of 5 people. A maximum of two teams are possible per project.

I ALREADY HAVE A PROJECT TEAM. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER AS A TEAM?

Good question. Yes, teams may register together. You can participate with up to 3 people, but agree that as part of the MOVE! Ideas Festival that other participants can join your team.

IN WHICH LANGUAGE DOES THE MOVE! IDEAS FESTIVAL TAKE PLACE?

Main sessions at the MOVE! Ideas Festival will be held in English. Staff and organizers will also be able to assist you in German. As a team, you can decide in which language you want to communicate. We encourage international students to attend!

WILL PROJECT OWNERS GET TO KNOW THE COACHES BEFORE MOVE! IDEAS FESTIVAL?

There will be an introductory appointment via zoom with the projects and the coaches about two weeks before the event. You will receive information about this in advance via email.

I ALREADY HAVE A PROJECT READY TO PITCH, IS THERE A PLACE FOR ME AT THE FESTIVAL?

Yes, we would love to hear from you! The MOVE! Ideas Festival is a launching pad for new ideas. On the first day of the festival, you will have the opportunity to present your project independently to the audience, in order to get feedback and experience! Please submit your project and write a short message in the question section.
