Das 28. transdisziplinäre Kolloquium, das vom IKF in Kooperation mit der Graduiertenakademie veranstaltet wird, diskutiert, wie die Praxis des Filmemachens als zentraler Bestandteil eines Forschungsprozesses gefasst werden kann und auf welche Weise sie wirkt. Mick Wilson (Universität Göteborg) und Christine Reeh-Peters (Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF) werden über verschiedene Fassungen dieses Verhältnisses von Film und Forschung sprechen, wie sie etwa unter Konzepten wie "praxisbasierte Forschung", "praxisgeleitete Forschung", "Forschungskreation" und "künstlerische Forschung" firmieren, und ihre Konflikte, Einsätze und Zielsetzungen diskutieren. 
Die Veranstaltung findet in englischer Sprache an der Filmuniverstät Babelsberg statt.

28. TDK, Mick Wilson & Christine Reeh-Peters: Film practice in research as practice-based research, research-creation or artistic research? A genealogy of different frameworks and disagreements

This 28th Transdisciplinary Colloquium hosted by IKF, in cooperation with the Graduiertenakademie, discusses how and to what extend research requires film practice as a central component of the research process. Mick Wilson (University of Gothenburg) and Christine Reeh-Peters (Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF) will talk about different frameworks, their conflicts, stakes, and objectives including "practice-based research", "practice-led research", "research-creation", or "artistic research".

CV Mick Wilson

Mick Wilson is an artist, educator and researcher based in Gothenburg and Dublin. He is currently Professor of Art. and Director of Doctoral Studies, at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg. Trained as both an artist and historian of art and design with graduate degrees in art & design history; information technology and education; and visual culture. He is a research professor at University of Gothenburg, appointed on both academic and artistic grounds. 

Current teaching and research interests address aspects of the political imaginary, with particular focus on the operational and practical register:

  • constructions of 'public-ness' and the 'social' with respect to the contemporary art field;
  • exhibition-making as enquiry;
  • body-counts: political community with the dead and the regime of calculation;
  • the rhetorical dynamics of knowledge conflict and violence
  • the aesthetic politics of foodways.

CV Christine Reeh-Peters

Christine Reeh-Peters is a German filmmaker and philosopher living between Berlin, Karlsruhe and Lisbon. She is currently Junior Professor for Theory and Practice of Artistic Research in Digital Media at Filmuniversity Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam. She is part of the executive board  of the IKF - Institute for Artistic Research at Filmuniversity Babelsberg.  She holds a PhD in Philosophy of Art and Aesthetics from the University of Lisbon. She is film producer and director at C.R.I.M. in Lisbon of which she is co-founder. She is editor of several anthologies and one monograph on film-philosophy. Christine explores the complexity of narration, place and image as well as the links between philosophy and artistic research in theory and praxis.
