The installation transforms the entrance situation in such a way that “Turm A” (the entrance gate) can be read as a general metaphor for moments of transition and transgression.
The political, social and economic implications of this threshold situation can be thought of as well as through the contextualization of the song lyrics dignified reminders of the victims of terror at this moment.
The music written by former prisoners as a survival strategy in everyday life in the camp was musically reflected on and recomposed by students of the film music department at the Babelsberg Film University KONRAD WOLF.

ÜBERGÄNGE. SCHWELLE ZUR HÖLLE ist Teil des Projektes PERSPEKTIVWECHSEL als STRATEGIEN DER EINSICHT
Für die Gestaltung partizipativer Prozesse retro- und prospektiver Erinnerungskultur wurden künstlerische Methoden und ästhetische Strategien audiovisuellen Erzählens im Kontext künstlerischer Forschung entworfen. Eine Gruppe von 20 Studierenden und Lehrenden der Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF beteiligten sich 2019-2021 an diesem Prozess und wirkten aktiv an zwei filmischen Interventionen mit: der Site-specific Installation ÜBERGÄNGE. SCHWELLE ZUR HÖLLE und dem Hörstück Tödliches Terrain. Eine Akustische Erzählung für die Zukunft des Erinnerns.
Projektleitung:
- PERSPEKTIVWECHSEL wurde von Katja Pratschke (Medienkünstlerin, freie Kuratorin) und Fee Altmann (ehemals Geschäftsführerin des Instituts für künstlerische Forschung der Filmuniversität Babelsberg, jetzt Vorstand des freien !KF Berlin) kuratiert und umgesetzt.
