Ten years ago, the filmmaker Maya Klar had an underwater near-death experience. She tried to cinematically reconstruct this event, and while searching for underwater filming techniques she came across works by Leni Riefenstahl and decided to contact her. "Liebe Leni" is an imaginary correspondence between Leni Riefenstahl and the filmmaker Maya Klar.
Maya Klar: "This is the interview that could not have occurred in reality and is therefore taking place within the cinematic medium, thus allowing us the opportunity to have a cross-time conversation, director to director, woman to woman, Israeli to German. We exchange thoughts about scuba diving, film and beauty, but also about racism and propaganda."
