Application

All applicants must submit their application online via the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF admissions portal. Please first register on the admissions portal and then submit your application there.

If you have a foreign transcript and have already registered and applied through uni-assist, you must still apply separately via the KONRAD WOLF Film University Babelsberg admissions portal.

Note: Please have all required documents and files ready before beginning the application process.

ATTENTION! Shortly before the application deadline, server issues and delays in the online application process may occur due to a large number of (last-minute) applications. So don’t wait until the very last day of the deadline! Applications and supplementary documents submitted after the application deadline will not be accepted!

Please note:

• Applications in paper form will NOT be considered.
• Registration/application in the university application portal is exclusively possible during the application period. Please note that the application deadline is a cut-off deadline.
• An administrative fee is charged for the application. Applications for which the administrative fee has not been remitted will not be considered for the assessment procedure.
• Do not include any links with your application. For security reasons, we are not permitted to open external links; therefore, their content cannot be taken into consideration.
• Incomplete applications will not be considered for the assessment procedure.
• You can track the processing status of your application in the university application portal. Please refrain from making inquiries by telephone.

If you have acquired your university entrance qualification in Germany, please inform yourself about the required proof in the paragraph 'German Certificate’. If you have acquired your university entrance qualification outside Germany, please inform yourself about the required documents you must submit under ‘Foreign Certificate’.

For the B.A. program Set Design the regulations of Section 10 para. 2-4 BbgHG (Brandenburg Higher Education Act) apply.

German Certificate:

Please submit your university entrance qualification (PDF) with your application, usually:

• General university entrance qualification (Abitur) or subject-specific university entrance qualification
• General or subject-specific entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences
• Other university entrance qualifications as per Section 10 para. 2 BbgHG (Brandenburg Higher Education Act)

Applicants who do not have the required university entrance qualification but have completed vocational training in the arts and crafts field should upload their most recent school transcript (PDF) and the certificate of completion for the relevant vocational training (PDF).

Note: In addition to a general education in the arts, a strong foundation in mathematics and physics is required.

Foreign Certificate:

If you obtained your university entrance qualification abroad, you must have your certificate checked and evaluated by uni-assist e.V. before applying. Processing can take up to 6 weeks. Please take this into account when planning your schedule. The review is subject to a fee and must be completed before the application deadline. Please upload the preliminary review document (VPD) that you receive from uni-assist e. V. along with your other application materials, to the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF application portal.

Please note:

• If the uni-assist review determines that you do not hold an HZB as defined in Section 10(2) of the BbgHG, but you have successfully completed vocational training in the field of arts and crafts, please upload your most recent school transcript (PDF) and the certificate of your relevant vocational training (PDF).
• This requirement also applies if you are a German citizen.
• Special regulations apply to applicants from the Republic of India, the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, please inform yourself.

If you obtained your university entrance qualification at a non-German-speaking institution and do not hold German citizenship, you must provide evidence of sufficient German language proficiency at least at the DSH-1 level or an equivalent language certificate according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Please upload this with the other application files in the university application portal.

• Certificates / references providing evidence of at least 26 weeks of practical experience in the relevant professional field at the time of applying. Certificates / references should detail the type, scope, and quality of work performed. Applicants are expected to have practical experience in performing creative work in the TV, film, theater, or media business. (In exceptional cases, up to 13 of the 26 weeks of practical experience can be acquired until the beginning of the program.)
• Please use only the following form (form) for the tabular list of practical work experience!

Work samples showing the applicant's suitability for the program, including each of the following:

• A portfolio containing at least 20 artistic works (JPG, PNG, PDF, max. 50 MB per file), such as drawings, sketches, paintings, graphics, illustrations for short stories, photographs, digital images, etc.  
• You may also submit self-produced films or videos (MPG, MPEG, MP4, MOV, 500 MB).
• Sculptures and spatial designs can be submitted as photographs or 3D illustrations (JPG, PNG, 200MB).

Certificates / references proving fine arts skills or knowledge acquired outside school (e.g., fine arts training, drawing or painting courses, involvement in theater groups, etc.) are desired.

Based on the materials submitted, the admissions committee will decide which applicants will receive permission to take the admission test and inform them in writing.

Practical / Creative Assignment:

• Visualization of a short story
• Illustration and associative transformation of a spatial situation (please bring your own drawing materials)

Interview:

Interview on the materials submitted, the works produced during the admission test, and the applicant's artistic and personal profile.

Normally, the admission test results will be communicated in writing to the applicant no later than 4 weeks after the last test.
